Where to Elope in the Bahamas: 14 Best Beaches (Most are Free!)

The Bahamas are a dream vacation destination for so many people for good reason. I’ve been to 41+ countries all over the world, and the white sand beaches, temperate weather, and teal waters here are hard to say no to, no matter where you’re from. But its close proximity to US airports like Miami makes it an extra attractive option for folks traveling from the States who want a tropical vacation vibe on their wedding day.

One of the best spots to elope in the Bahamas is the Pink Sands Beach located on Harbour Island. The color comes from crushed coral and shells, giving you a pale pink beach that looks even more striking against the brightly colored water. It looks gorgeous in person and in photos after, which is ideal.

The Bahamas are a great destination for couples looking to have their wedding day during the honeymoon they’ve always dreamed of. And with 30 islands inhabited in this chain of more than 700, there’s an incredible amount to choose from! For my picks both on and off the beaten path, keep reading!

Before you go, I made a map for you! It’s stocked with over 600 hand-picked locations from all over the world and lets you filter by exactly what you’re looking for. Click here to go to it!

Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park, Eastern Bahamas, Bahamas

Tropical beach scene with turquoise water, white sandy shores, and rocky outcrops. Palm trees dot the landscape, and a clear blue sky stretches above in Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park, Eastern Bahamas, Bahamas. The coastline curves gently, creating a serene and inviting atmosphere.

If your dream elopement includes untouched beaches, insane snorkeling, and water so clear you can see straight to the ocean floor, this is the place to do it. Exuma Cays Land and Sea National Park is a protected stretch of pure Bahamian beauty, with hidden coves, limestone bluffs, and an underwater world packed with colorful coral and marine life. Arrive by boat, find a secluded spot to say your vows, then dive right into the warm, turquoise water. This is your slice of heaven.

Grand Bahama, Bahamas

Aerial view of a turquoise ocean with a lone white sailboat. In the distance, a coastline is visible with several tall buildings and lush greenery beneath a cloudy sky in Grand Bahama, Bahamas.

Grand Bahama isn’t just about picture-perfect beaches (though, yeah, those are everywhere). This island brings adventure into the mix, from the world’s longest underwater cave system at Lucayan National Park to snorkeling with sea turtles at Paradise Cove. Port Lucaya gives you that buzzy island-town feel, while Gold Rock Beach is all about solitude, especially when the tide pulls back to reveal a never-ending stretch of sand. If you want an elopement that combines total relaxation with a side of adventure, this island does it all.

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Kayaking, Boating, Sail boating, Snorkeling

Lucayan National Park, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas

A serene tropical scene with clear turquoise water bordered by sandy shores and lush mangroves under a bright blue sky in Lucayan National Park, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas. Tall trees with exposed roots frame the view, creating a sense of peace and natural beauty.

Lucayan National Park is where white sand beaches meet underground caves, mangrove forests, and hidden trails. It’s home to one of the longest underwater cave systems in the world, making it an incredible choice for couples who want a little adventure with their elopement. Hike through the jungle, paddle through the mangroves, or sneak away to a private stretch of beach at Gold Rock Beach. However you decide to celebrate your big day, it’ll feel like you have this Bahamian paradise all to yourselves.

Best for: Forest, Beach and Coast

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Kayaking, Boating, Swimming

Long Island, Bahamas

Aerial view of Dean's Blue Hole in the Bahamas, surrounded by a turquoise lagoon and dense greenery. The circular sinkhole contrasts with the bright sandy shore, and the ocean extends to the horizon under a partly cloudy sky.

For an addictive mix of adventure and total seclusion, Long Island delivers. This island is split between dramatic cliffs and calm, sandy beaches, meaning you can pick your perfect elopement setting, whether that’s up high overlooking the water or right at the shoreline. Dean’s Blue Hole – the second deepest in the world – is right here, making for a wild post-ceremony dip if you’re up for it. This island feels untouched, uncrowded, and completely unreal in the best way possible.

Best for: Island, Forest, Beach and Coast

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Boating, Paddleboarding, Swimming

Blue Holes National Park, Andros, Bahamas

Aerial view of a natural circular pool surrounded by rugged, rocky cliffs with clear turquoise water. The cliffs are lined with greenery at the top, and shadows are cast on the water, revealing submerged rocks.

Andros is home to the highest concentration of blue holes on the planet, and this national park lets you experience these otherworldly sinkholes up close. These deep, perfectly circular pools of sapphire water sit hidden in the pine forests, some accessible by foot and others by boat, making them the ultimate backdrop for an elopement that feels like stepping into a secret world. If you want to mix in some adventure, you can even swim or dive in the crystal-clear depths, where underwater caves stretch out beneath the island.

Best for: Blue Holes (Cenotes), Forest, Island

Pink Sands Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas

Wild horses walk along a pristine pink sandy beach with turquoise water in the background. The sky is partly cloudy, and two people are visible in the distance on Pink Sand Beach, Harbour Island, Bahamas.

A beach this beautiful shouldn’t exist – but here it is. Pink Sands Beach on Harbour Island is a three-mile stretch of soft, blush-colored sand that owes its dreamy hue to crushed coral and tiny shells. It’s the kind of place that makes barefoot ceremonies feel extra special, especially with the calm, clear water rolling in behind you. Spend the rest of your day riding horses along the shoreline, sailing past pastel-colored cottages, or sipping rum cocktails at a beachside café. Heaven!

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Kayaking, Horse-riding and Boating

Pipe Creek Sandbar, Exuma Cays, Bahamas

Aerial view of a sandy beach surrounded by clear, turquoise water on Pipe Creek Sandbar, Exuma Cays, Bahamas. The sand forms a narrow strip with gentle waves lapping at the edges, creating a serene, tropical scene. The ocean varies in shades of blue and green.

This place looks straight-up Photoshopped, but it’s the real deal. Pipe Creek Sandbar is a strip of pure white sand that only appears at low tide, surrounded by shallow, glassy water that shifts between neon turquoise and deep blue. It’s only accessible by boat, which means you get your own private pop-up island in the middle of the Exumas for your elopement. Kick off your shoes, walk straight into the warm sea, and celebrate your marriage with a champagne toast on a sandbar that disappears when the tide rolls in.

Best for: Beach, Sandbar

My favorite activities to do here: Boating, Swimming

Cape Santa Maria, Long Island, Bahamas

Aerial view of a tranquil beach with clear turquoise waters, lined with trees and white buildings on the shore in Cape Santa Maria, Long Island, Bahamas. The horizon features green land and a partly cloudy sky at sunset, casting warm light over the scene.

Cape Santa Maria is the kind of place that makes you stop and just stare. The water is so clear it barely looks real, and the sand is so powdery white it feels like walking on silk. This stretch of Long Island is way more laid-back than the busier Bahamian islands, giving you all the peace and quiet you need for an intimate elopement. After you say your vows, jump into the water, kayak through hidden coves, or just soak in the fact that you’ve basically found paradise.

Best for: Island, Forest, Beach and Coast

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Swimming, Boating, Kayaking

Conception Island National Park, Bahamas

A serene beach scene with white sand and clear turquoise waters under a blue sky on Conception Island National Park, Bahamas. Two sailboats float in the distance, and the shoreline is lined with sparse vegetation and shrubs.

Uninhabited, untouched, and only accessible by boat, Conception Island is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve discovered your own private paradise. This protected marine park is ringed by sugar-soft beaches, with a shallow lagoon on one side and vibrant coral reefs just offshore. It’s an unreal spot for an elopement – just you, the white sand, and maybe a few passing sea turtles to witness your vows. It doesn’t get better than this!

Best for: Island, Beach and Coast

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Boating, Swimming and Snorkeling

Treasure Cay Beach, Great Abaco Island, Bahamas

A serene beachscape features a lone palm tree on the left, with its fronds arching over white sand on Treasure Cay Beach, Great Abaco Island, Bahamas. The turquoise ocean stretches into the horizon under a clear blue sky with a few scattered clouds.

Treasure Cay Beach really is a treasure (sorry!), famous for its powdery white sand and ridiculously blue water that stretches on for miles. It’s quiet, stunning, and exactly the kind of spot that makes an elopement feel like a true escape. Spend the morning exchanging vows with the ocean as your witness, then hop on a boat to explore nearby cays or just soak up the Bahamian sun with a cocktail in hand.

Best for: Beach and Coast

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Boating, Paddleboarding

Gold Rock Beach, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas

Sandy beach with sparse vegetation, including a large tree in the foreground on Gold Rock Beach, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas. The calm sea is on the right, and the sky is clear with minimal clouds. The horizon appears distant, creating a relaxed, tropical atmosphere.

Gold Rock Beach doesn’t mess around when it comes to scenery. At low tide, the sand stretches out forever, creating a mirror-like reflection of the sky that makes it one of the most surreal elopement backdrops in the Bahamas. It’s part of Lucayan National Park, so it stays pristine and quiet – no crowds, no resorts, just miles of soft white sand and shallow, glassy water. Say your vows with the waves at your feet, then stick around to watch the sunset light up the entire beach.

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Kayaking, Boating and Stargazing

Elbow Cay, Bahamas

Aerial view of a tropical island with lush greenery, white sandy beaches, and turquoise waters in Elbow Cay, Bahamas. Numerous sailboats are anchored in the bay, and coral reefs are visible in the foreground. A lighthouse stands in the background under a clear blue sky.

Elbow Cay is straight-up postcard material, with colorful colonial-style houses, swaying palms, and a candy-striped lighthouse that’s one of the most iconic sights in the Bahamas. It’s got the charm of a tiny Caribbean village with all the turquoise water and sandy shores you could ever want. Whether you say “I do” on a hidden beach or up on the lighthouse for a sweeping ocean view, an elopement here is guaranteed to be intimate, beautiful, and unforgettable.

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking, Kayaking, Boating

Coco Plum Beach, Great Exuma, Bahamas

Wooden swings stand in the shallow, turquoise waters near a sandy beach in Coco Plum Beach, Great Exuma, Bahamas. The sky is partly cloudy, and a line of trees borders the shoreline. The ocean is calm with gentle waves.

Coco Plum Beach is all about those iconic Exuma sandbars – the kind that stretch out into the water like they’ll never end. When the tide is low, you’re left with miles upon miles of shallow, crystal-clear waters and soft rippled sand that makes for an unreal ceremony spot. Bonus? This beach is known for the colorful starfish that hang out in the shallows, meaning you just might have some unexpected wedding guests lounging around your feet.

Best for: Island, City, Coast, Beach and Starfish

My favorite activities to do here: Hiking and Kayaking

Greenwood Beach, Cat Island, Bahamas

Aerial view of a tropical beach with white sand stretching alongside turquoise ocean waters in Greenwood Beach, Cat Island, Bahamas. Coral formations are visible beneath the clear water. Green vegetation borders the beach, extending into the distance under a partly cloudy sky.

Greenwood Beach is what people dream of when they picture the Bahamas – endless pink-tinged sand, not a single resort in sight, and water so blue it looks like someone cranked up the saturation. The best part? It’s on Cat Island, one of the least developed islands in the Bahamas, meaning you can elope here and have an entire beach to yourselves. And if you’re up for it, hike up to the Hermitage (the highest point in the Bahama) for a quiet, soul-stirring moment with the ocean stretching out below.
