How to Plan the Perfect Page Wedding

Located near the Utah-Arizona border, Page is practically a gateway to some of the best natural wonders in both states, making it a prime location for adventure-seekers. Its proximity to Lake Powell and countless recreation areas make Page the perfect wedding destination for couples who want to feel like they’re on the cusp of something epic.

I’ve been an elopement photographer for over a decade and every time I’ve visited Page, I have had a different experience in the best way. There is always something new to discover and experience out here—I am super excited to share my best tips on how to plan the perfect Page wedding so you can see what I mean for yourself!

Frequently asked questions about getting married in Page:

What makes Page a great place to get married?

Page is full of a spirit of adventure, which is why this city is always high on my list of recommendations when it comes to a desert destination that offers both beauty and excitement! Whether you’re boating on Lake Powell, exploring the winding slot canyons, or taking in the sweeping desert views from a helicopter, you will find yourself enjoying every second of your big day in a way that you’ll remember for a lifetime.

How do you get to Page?

Located at 36°54’53.6″N 111°27’20.6″W, you can find Page, Arizona as a destination on common navigation apps!

Just south of the Arizona-Utah border, Page has a few different options when it comes to flights for out-of-towners. Page Municipal Airport is the closest airport, located about a mile from the town center, but most people will connect through Phoenix or Las Vegas, since those are the nearest major hubs and will have more flights coming in and out. Alternatively, you can also choose to rent a car from either Phoenix or Las Vegas and drive to Page. Both cities are about 4 to 5 hours away by car, giving you a great opportunity to take in more of the striking landscapes the American Southwest is known for on the scenic drive!

When’s the best time to visit Page?

The best time to visit Page is during the shoulder seasons, meaning early fall or late spring. Both those seasons offer milder weather and smaller crowds, giving you more opportunities to take advantage of all that Page has to offer, especially with Lake Powell so close by and its many recreational options available to you!

Weekdays are typically better than weekends if you want more privacy, but no matter when you choose to visit, I promise you’ll be guaranteed stunning desert views that will make you feel like you’ve traveled to another world.

Pro Tip: The slot canyons in particular will blow your mind with the golden light filtering through them—and thanks to the cooler temperatures of the spring and fall months, you’ll actually be able to take your time and enjoy them without overheating.

Page Fall Wedding

A couple, dressed in formal wedding attire, joyfully runs hand-in-hand through a sunlit, narrow red rock canyon with curved, textured walls.

Fall in Page, Arizona means epic desert sites to explore, stunning lake views, and temperatures low enough to enjoy all of it. Whether you’re exploring the canyons, hiking the trails, or floating down the river, you’ll be getting a wedding destination that offers desert beauty and opportunities for adventure in equal measure!

How much does it cost to get married in Page?

The best thing about Page is that there are so many gorgeous places to get married and they range in cost enough that you are guaranteed to find something that is perfect for you and within your budget!

You can keep things simple and elope by the beautiful Lake Powell or plan something more luxurious and buy out an entire desert resort—it all just depends on what vibe you’re looking for.

Beyond the venue or site cost, your budget can be whatever you want it to be! It will likely depend on your choice of vendors, guest count, travel costs, etc. The couples who usually hire me invest a lot of their budget in photography so they can have the adventure of a lifetime on their big day and relax, knowing that every epic moment will be captured for them.

Activities to do during Page weddings and elopements:

Page has dozens of activities that are perfect for elopements because they blend seeing the views with finding adventure on your wedding day. I love adding in a special activity to an elopement day—it makes it stand out even more from the rest of your life and prove this is no ordinary day of your life.

Here are just some of my favorite ones in the Page area:

  • Exploring Slot Canyons (i.e. Waterholes Canyon)
  • Kayaking along the Colorado River
  • Paddleboarding on Lake Powell
  • Hiking in Glen Canyon Recreation Area
  • Taking a helicopter tour to Tower Butte
  • Biking the Rim View Trail

With access to canyons, national parks, various trails, and the crown jewel that is Lake Powell, Page is an ideal place to experience the American Southwest at its best. All you have to do is decide how you’d like to spend your time—whether it’s floating peacefully down the river or exploring through the slot canyons—and we’ll find a way to make it happen!

Are dogs allowed in Page?

Yes, there are many dog-friendly spots in and around Page, including pet-friendly hotels and restaurants! As for trails and outdoor recreation areas, just double-check before visiting since some allow leashed dogs while others don’t, especially in the Lake Powell area.

Krystal & Miro’s Page Fall Wedding

For a couple that originally met climbing, Page was a natural fit for Krystal & Miro. They really wanted big rock views and spots that felt far away from the crowds. And I knew exactly where to take them!

Krystal & Miro woke up first thing in the morning and got ready at their rental stay. This area can get busy the later into the day you get, so I advised them to get started first thing in the morning to take full advantage of popular spots with no crowds!

Most of their day was arranged around a helicopter ride and landing on Tower Butte, which rises up over 5,280 feet (the elevation of Denver!) above the desert. If you want big views in Page, THIS is the way to do it! Not only do you get the best seat in the house for seeing it all from above, you also get a great scenic helicopter ride along the way.

Krystal & Miro had their ceremony up there, exchanging personalized vows written on topo maps and then rings that they personally found in Ireland. After they’d kissed and sealed the deal, they spent some time just exploring, taking in the sights, and soaking in the moment. It’s hard to beat that kind of peace in a place like this.

They ended their day once back on the ground by exploring some of the slot canyons nearby. This was basically one huge playground for them and they had a blast going up ladders and doing some light scrambling on some of the rock!

Page and the Lake Powell area are full of so many gems. If you want to feel like the whole landscape is a playground, this area is a great place to elope.
